Gone
"Gay men are so hot."
God has given all of earth (actually just the US as of now) a gift and that gift goes by the name hulu. hulu.com is what all websites should be like, and not just streaming video sites, the whole internet. Constant updates, the best navigation and design I have ever experienced on the web, and Arrested Development. The selection is almost perfect, but I blame ABC for that flaw, not hulu. My reason for mentioning hulu is this; they recently added the movie Go. I have heard random and sporadic things about Go and I had no idea what it was about, but Danny T (Totally Rad Show) has said a lot about it and the cast is quite shiny so I figured, 'why not'.
Go is a hip, edgy comedy in which the misadventures of a group of young people collide in L.A.'s racous underground scene, according to hulu (they misspelled raucous). It stars Sarah Polley, Katie Holmes, Timothy Olyphant, and a handful of other people you will recognize. Now, here's what made me upset that I hadn't watched it sooner. The music is done by one of my favorites, and quite possibly the favorite, DJ/artist BT. He mostly does dance music or, to be more specific, "epic house" which is a more justified title. Don't let that dissuade you from seeing this film, it is so much more than music.
This movie happens in sections. Each section is it's own story yet they are all related and end up meshing. It took me a while to get into this movie and I'm not really sure why. I liked the characters for the most part, it just took a while for the whole grandeur of the movie to set in. The first story is interesting enough and the second is just obnoxious but as it comes to a close you see the big picture starting to form so that by the time we get to the third part, you're actually trying to figure it out. The movie is actually deeper than it appears, throwing twists at you, leaving you bewildered, amazed, and more often than not, amused.
I went into this movie not knowing a thing about it. As it started, I thought I was going to hate it. By the time we had reached the end, I found myself almost off my seat, smiling, cheering, and thinking. This movie is by no means, perfect, but it does everything a good movie should do. My only gripes were the time it took it to actually get interesting and there were some loose ends left untied but they were minor. I would definitely reccomend this movie, and you have no reason not to see it now that it's on hulu for free!
